Rebuilding Trust Initiative

Breaking down the US vs. THEM Mentality

Fruitful Endeavors Charity, Inc. seeks to address the police against community narrative by exploring why it exists, and identifying steps in improving community relationships. Particularly, in communities of color, many believe the us vs. them mentality is the underlying root cause of violence and social conflict; and the reason some view law enforcement officials as a threat to society rather than a source of help. In contrast, many of those who serve in the law enforcement community believe their tireless efforts to dismantle the narrative remain void.

The Rebuilding Trust Initiative seeks to combine both voices, those from the community and those from law enforcement, to tear down existing barriers to develop progressive relationships for the future. The program is designed to engaged students' grades 6th through 12th with local law enforcement officials for a round table discussion on community policing and practices.

Young Women are the Future

Most people believe adolescence is the finest time of one’s life since it is filled with pleasure, freedom and enthusiasm. But, research shows that middle school aged girls, now more than ever, are dealing with issues such as becoming a teenager, parental and peer relationships, hormonal changes, body development, the media and much more. To support young women during these life changes and challenges, Fruitful Endeavors Charity established the Young Women are the Future (YWF) Program to educate and expose new and innovative opportunities to young women.

Big Hearts for Tiny Homes

As of January 2020, Illinois had an estimated 10,431 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuums of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through Big Hearts 4 Tiny Homes, Fruitful Endeavors Charity hopes to address homelessness by reimagining the idea of shelter spaces for individuals without homes. Fruitful Endeavors and it’s parners will build tiny home communities in the Chicago area and throughout the State of Illinois to provide shelter, privacy and safety for those who are considered homeless.

Tools For Teachers

One of the current educational issues facing teachers today is the lack of funding. According to a Department of Education survey, around 94% of public school teachers report spending their own money on supplies for their classrooms. Unfortunately, these expenses put added financial strain on teachers and when schools encounter budget issues, the first step is to reduce pupil to teacher ratio, which directly impacts a scholars’ learning.

Through Tools for Teachers, FEC will fundraise to support teachers and students during the academic school year by sponsoring a selected classroom.
